Vung Tau's nickname, "The Anchorage," stems from its history. The name itself translates to "Anchorage" and the calm waters around the peninsula provided a natural shelter for European trading ships during the 14th and 15th centuries. This safe harbor function earned Vung Tau its fitting nickname.

Vung Tau is the largest city of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in southern Vietnam. It is the province's economic, financial and cultural centre, and a popular tourist hub in southern Vietnam.
Craving a beach escape but don't want to stray too far from Ho Chi Minh City?I usually think of Vung Tau as Ho Chi Minh City's cool ocean breeze and backyard playground. We used to do some road trips for 2 hours on our motorcycle from Saigon to Vung Tau, it was fun! Vung Tau has some beachside fun, fresh seafood, and a relaxed vibe, all within easy reach of the big city.

Wanna go on a beach trip when you're already in Southern Vietnam?
Not a usual Vung Tau traveler but I've got some cool ideas!

Some of my recent trips

09/2020

My best friend, Catherine. We haven't traveled with each other since a long time. She's in Amsterdam right now. Back then, she was always my travel buddy, even when no one was free to travel with me, somehow, Cat would always be down to go anywhere with me. I just miss her a lot...

09/2020

Same trip, we found out a nice spot on top of one of those mountains on the way we went to the Cloud Lake park. The park was closed that day which we found out later so we decided to hang out here instead.

09/2020

This time when I first got into college - and it was right after covid, so I couldn't travel to the US.

Covid ended so we decided to celebrate by making a quick escape trip to Vung Tau. This one was fun but also stressful at the same time since everyone is in their first year of college and that was online.
Thank    you
for
traveling with me
